An Australian couple enjoyed a three-day stay in Yokohama just before their planned cruise to Alaska via Hokkaido leaving Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal. They are a very warm and wonderful couple; the husband, a Chinese Australian who was born in Papua New Guinea is a lawyer living in Sydney and his wife was born in Norway. He successively held various honorable posts such as the president of a yacht club, a horse racing one, a driving one and so on. As I heard that the wife had sprained her ankle, we tried to walk slowly and I often asked her if she was OK. We had a beautiful day like early summer, which was perfect for our trip, and walked through a garden where a lot of spring flowers had started blooming here and there. We had lunch at a restaurant that specializes in Oyako-don, or chicken and egg bowl, and then Japanese sweets at a café in Landmark Plaza. They enjoyed the Japanese food and we had a great time talking about things going on in Australia, the nature of Papua New Guinea and Japanese culture. After lunch, we walked leisurely to Dockyard Garden and then up to Sky Garden of Landmark Tower, where they were very impressed with the magnificent view. On their way to Yokohama Station, they did some shopping. I saw them off at Sogo Department Store.
